This webinar is for writers of all children’s book categories, and beginners as well as advanced writers looking to perfect their submission package and strategy.
Deborah Halverson spent a decade editing books for Harcourt Children’s Books before becoming the award-winning author of Writing Young Adult Fiction for Dummies, Writing New Adult Fiction, the teen novels Honk If You Hate Me and Big Mouth, the picture book Letters to Santa, and three books in the Remix series for struggling readers. She has been working with authors—bestsellers, veterans, debut, and aspiring—for twenty-four years. Deborah is now a freelance editor specializing in picture books, middle grade, and young adult fiction. She is the founder of the popular writers’ advice site DearEditor.com and an advisory board member for the UC San Diego Extension “Children’s Book Writing and Illustrating” certificate program. Deborah Halverson has also offered to do a limited number of written critiques of query letters, the first 10 pages of a YA or MG novel or a submission package of a query letter, synopsis and first 10 pages of your manuscript after the webinar. Critiques are NOT included in the webinar. Prices are as follows:
* Query letter: $15
* First 10 pages of your manuscript: $30
* Submission package (query letter, synopsis, first 10 pages of your manuscript): $45
If you would like a critique, choose that option when you register below.
Critique pages must be submitted during the week between Jan. 20 and Jan. 26. This gives you time after the webinar to revise based on what you learned. Written feedback from Deborah Halverson will be emailed to you within 2 weeks. See our webinar critique guidelines for more information on submitting pages.
