Writing a book-length manuscript is an incredible feat, but it’s just the beginning of your journey to publication. If you want to see your work in print, you need a deep commitment to revision—and the skills to take your story to the next level with each draft.
In this webinar, I’ll share tools I use for different stages of my revision process, including how to:
– strategize dialogue and setting
– get inside your characters’ experience
– discover new story possibilities
– use chapter openings and endings to propel readers through your story.
Wherever you are in the novel-writing process, these approaches will help you keep your bearings—and motivation—as you revise your draft into a publishable novel.
Ashley Hope Pérez is the author of three novels, including Out of Darkness, which was described by The New York Times as a “layered tale of color lines, love and struggle” and named one of Booklist’s “50 Best YA Books of All Time.” It also won a Printz honor, the Tomás Rivera Book Award, and the Américas Award. Ashley teaches world literatures as an assistant professor at The Ohio State University. She also regularly gives workshops—in person and online—for the Highlights Foundation.
