When words and illustrations come together seamlessly, it creates picture book magic. But finding that perfect balance between the two can be daunting. Join author/illustrator Vanessa Roeder as she offers tips and tricks to creating a well-balanced union of pictures and text, and shares her approach to creating picture books from an illustrator’s perspective.
Vanessa Roeder is the author and illustrator of Lucy and the String (Dial Books for Young Readers) which debuted in August. She has illustrated six books for various clients, and her work has been seen in Highlights Magazine as well as on Apartment Therapy. She lives in Austin, Texas with her family.
The monthly meeting will be immediately followed by an Open Critique Group for SCBWI members.
