10:00 am - 11:00 am

Texas State Library and Archives Commission
1201 Brazos St. - Austin, TX 78701

Longtime Austin SCBWI members Don Tate (Poet: The Remarkable Story of George Moses Horton) and Chris Barton (Shark Vs. Train) share the lessons of their decade-plus journey from manuscript swappers to co-creators of the acclaimed picture book biographies The Amazing Age of John Roy Lynch and Whoosh! Lonnie Johnson's Super-Soaking Stream of Inventions.

Stay after the meeting for the presentation of Don Tate's SCBWI Crystal Kite Award for his book Poet and a celebration.

NOTE: This month only, our meeting will be held at a different location than usual: the Texas State Library and Archives Commission Tocker Learning Center. You MUST bring a photo ID and sign in at the front desk. While you're there, feel free to browse the state's wonderful collection, including the materials in the Genealogy and Reference Reading Rooms. Staff will be on hand at the Reference Desk to answer any questions.

Parking is available in the Capitol Visitors Parking Garage (1201 San Jacinto Blvd.). The first two hours are free, $1 for each half hour thereafter. Metered spaces are available on San Jacinto Street and throughout the downtown area.

The monthly meeting will be immediately preceded by an Open Critique Group for SCBWI members.
