with author Wendelin Van Draanen

The Zoom link is below.

In this monthly meeting, award-winning author Wendelin Van Draanen will share insights from her twenty years in publishing, including story development, revision (its importance and how to learn to love it), “a peek behind the curtain” of traditional publishing (agents, editors, copy-editors, design), with a goal of inspiring you to keep writing no matter the obstacles.

She will also answer your questions on craft and publishing books for young readers.

Wendelin Van Draanen is the bestselling author of more than thirty novels, including the long-running Edgar-winning Sammy Keyes mystery series, all published by Knopf/RandomHouse. Her books have won many award, are sold around the world, and her novel Flipped—named a Top 100 Children’s Novel for the 21st Century by SLJ—became a Warner Brothers feature film.

Her first non-fiction book, Hope in the Mail, Reflections on Writing and Life, is part memoir, part craft guide, and part publishing insight, suitable for teen and adult audiences, especially those who want to write. Find more info at

The meeting will be open at 9:30am for members to connect and share news, then the panel will begin at 10am.
