ILLUSTRATOR FIRESIDES (with illustrator, Julissa Mora)

Date(s) - 01/15/2021
7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Did you know that our chapter is chock-full of published illustrators and author-illustrators? Have you ever wanted to meet them and get to know how they got to where they are today? In this new series, ILLUSTRATOR FIRESIDES, we live-interviewe one of our regional illustrators to get an in-depth look at how they became a published illustrator and the path they took to get there. Let’s follow their journey, and bring your questions for them to answer as well!

This month, we’ll be interviewing JULISSA MORA, who has this to say of herself:

Hi! I’m Julissa. I am a children’s illustrator and have created art for many publications, books, games, and puzzles just to name a few.

My goal as a children’s illustrator is to teach, inspire, and enrich the imagination. I think it’s extremely important to portray multicultural scenes to promote what I believe is a real world. I love to create positive, bright, and fun illustrations. When I am illustrating, I get lost in my art and I want the reader to get lost with me.

Julissa Mora has been published with American Girl, American Greetings, Capstone Publishing, Duopress, Educational Insights, High Five Magazine, Highlights for Children, Oxford University Press, Penguin Random House, Peaceable Kingdom, Scholastic, Target, and many more.

You can find her online at

Digital doors open at 6:45 for casual socializing, while our live interview begins at 7.
