While you’re working towards a book contract (or even between contracts), don’t overlook the opportunity to get published in children’s and teen magazines. Writing for the magazine market can help you qualify for PAL membership, hone your craft, and build your publishing cred. This session will cover generating ideas, studying magazine markets, querying vs. submitting on speculation, and more.
PAL member Susan Johnston Taylor has contributed nonfiction articles to magazines including Boys’ Life, Cicada, Dramatics, and Relate, among others.
Ride Across Time, her leveled reader in graphic novel format, publishes this October from Teacher Created Materials.
The monthly meeting will be immediately followed by an Open Critique Group for SCBWI members.
