The YA rom-com tells the story of Jay Collier, the only out gay kid at his high school in rural Washington, who makes a to-do list of romantic “firsts” without knowing how he’ll check off any of them—until he moves to Seattle forCover of "Jay's Gay Agenda," featuring two boys (one in a sweatshirt, one with chunky headphone around his neck) against a backdrop of a grassy park strewn with papers senior year.

Jay’s Gay Agenda is very loosely inspired by my high school years when I was the only out queer person and dreaming of the day when I’d finally meet another boy-who-likes-boys,” says Jason June. “While I didn’t keep lists like Jay, I did have a diary from before I came out detailing all my gay hopes and dreams, and I used the memory of that as the seed for Jay’s titular romance to-do list. It was so fulfilling turning those diary-writing days when I was scared and in the closet into a story of pure out and proud queer joy!”

The novel was a #1 new release on and has received wide acclaim.
