Ali and published by HarperCollins.  By pairing the small everyday accomplishments of children today, like solving a puzzle or learning the alphabet, with the largest achievements of beloved historical change-makers, We Move the World “gives the youngest movers and shakers a chance to see how much is possible just because of the things they already do.”Cover of 'We Move the World,' featuring nine smiling kids of diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds lifting up a globe together

“I got the idea for this book after I missed the first and second Women’s Marches (in 2017 and 2018),” Kari writes.  “I started thinking about why people march for different causes and how those actions connect to changing the world.”  Along the journey to publication, Kari states that she “learned so much with this manuscript: how great editors can be great teachers and cheerleaders; how important it is to have a good organizational system for research; and so much about the publishing process in general (it takes a village to create these books)!”

We Move the World has been warmly received by reviewers.  As Booklist commented, “This lovely little picture book offers inspiration to kids who want to make the world a better place.”
