Members in the Press: Jason June, Cynthia Leitich Smith, and Nicholas Solis

Congratulations to Austin SCBWI members Jason June, Cynthia Leitich Smith, and Nicholas Solis, who have all been recently featured in various magazines!

Jason June (author of picture books, chapter books, and an upcoming YA novel) was interviewed by People, discussing “the inspiration behind his books and why it’s so important to normalize LGBTQ love in youth literature.”  Read the interview here.

Cynthia Leitich Smith, one of the first members of the Austin SCBWI chapter and prolific author of books for young readers, was celebrated in a Publishers Weekly feature.  The article highlights her work lifting up Native voices in her roles as writer, editor, and community-builder.

Nicholas Solis, author of several picture books, wrote a column for the Winter 2021 SCBWI Bulletin (note, you must be signed in to your SCBWI account to view the Bulletin).  His article explores identity and representation and how the question of “Where do I fit in?” comes up persistently in his life and his writing.

Congrats to all three authors!
