Meet Our 2021 Conference Faculty: Kat Brzozowski

Meet the faculty of the 2021 Austin SCBWI Writers & Illustrators Working Conference. We’ve asked all our faculty members to answer 4 quick questions so we can get to know them better.

Kat Brzozowski, Senior Editor

Kat Brzozowski is a senior editor at Feiwel & Friends, an imprint of the Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group (MCPG). She joined MCPG after seven years at Thomas Dunne Books, a division of St. Martin’s Press, where she acquired and edited fiction and non-fiction for teens and adults. Kat is passionate about young adult fiction with complicated characters (especially female characters), and is drawn above all to a strong voice, realistic dialogue, and a great hook. For sci-fi and fantasy, she prefers stories that are rooted in our world but with a twist (more “Minority Report” than Star Wars). She’s also looking for non-fiction for teens and young adults that expose readers to new worlds and new points of view as well as timeless middle grade novels and clever, funny picture books.
