2020 Regional Advisor Scholarship Recipients

The Austin SCBWI RA Scholarship is awarded each year to children’s book writers who have the passion and desire to pursue a career in this industry. It is designed to give the winners a good foundation from which they can continue to learn and grow as a children’s book author.

Once again, we had so many amazing applications, it was too difficult to choose just one recipient.

Congratulations to the winners of our 2020 RA Scholarship!

Brenda Panella – Sisters Cerdas
Tonya Preece – Missing Memories

The winners receive a scholarship for both days of the Writers & Illustrators Working Conference, as well as SCBWI membership, two free Austin SCBWI webinar, are our guest at the Austin SCBWI Volunteer/Faculty Party the evening before our conference, and craft and career guidance from RA author Samantha M Clark during the next year.

In addition to our two Scholarship winners, we also awarded three honors:

Angela Hartman – Word We Heard
Eileen Manes – Build a City
Amanda Wenger – Winter at Candlesend

The honors also receive two free Austin SCBWI webinars and help from Samantha M Clark, as time permits, in the next year.

Congratulations to these wonderful writers. We look forward to seeing them at our conference. And thank you to everyone who applied.

Watch out for news about the 2021 Scholarship in the fall.
