How does Austin SCBWI afford these amazing events?
Austin SCBWI is run by an enthusiastic group of volunteers! And we keep our prices low so that you can build your career without emptying your wallet. These events are made possible with our only fund-raiser, the Silent Auction at our 2019 Writers and Illustrators Working Conference.
Donate! You can help by donating an item to the auction, then come to the conference
and bid to win items like works of art, critique’s, consultation’s, books and more. It’s
your donation that makes the difference. Whether it’s a clever, fun gift basket from your
critic group, a piece of art, a gift card that can be put into a gift tree, or other generous
items such as photo shoots and getaways—we welcome your donation!
Ask! Not sure what to donate? Then ask your favorite restaurant, workplace or friends
to donate something from their businesses, as appropriate. (Coordinator Susan Pope
even has a donation request letter to make it easy.) In return, we will link to their
business website on our SCBWI website as well as list all our donors in the conference
folders and thank them via our social media.
