Helping Kidlit’s Hurricane Harvey Victims

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the victims of Hurricane Harvey across the south and eastern areas of Texas. Libraries have lost their collections and so many people have lost their homes or experienced severe damage. So we're going help.

First, Austin SCBWI is dedicating our book drive at our annual Holiday Potluck to libraries in need in these areas. Our Potluck will be held Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m. Get more details here.

Second, we also want to help kidlit authors and illustrators hit with damage by Harvey. To that end, we're asking our amazing friends and members (that's you!) to donate what you can to buy scholarships for the Houston SCBWI conference on Oct. 7-8.  (Thanks to member Liz Garton Scanlon for the idea!) If enough is raised for at least one scholarship ($265 for both days), Austin SCBWI will donate 1 additional scholarship to the conference. Let's help as many Harvey victims as possible!

Get your donations in by Sept. 25.

Help kidlit authors and illustrators affected by Hurricane Harvey by clicking the button below to donate through Paypal. Make sure you note the donation is for the "Harvey Fund". Please note: Your donation will show our "Betty X Davis Award" on it, but we will earmark it for the Harvey Fund.

You may also send a check to Austin SCBWI, P.O. Box 170312, Austin TX 78717.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!
